Waterproof training pants

After the September 24th post, I did some more research and was able to find some waterproof training pants at a VERY reasonable price. Dappi Vinyl training pants are $1.25 each at BabyBestBuy. They are plain white, but with a $1 variety pack of permanent markers from Target we were able to make reasonable approximations of Katie, Mommy, and Daddy. She loves wearing them! I am on the fence about them. They are still quite bulky, and they still leak. But they hold most of a miss, and that's what they're designed to do.

Product Review - Potty Power (DVD)

Potty Power - For Boys & Girls
Rating: 5 stars

Potty Power kept Katie's interest for the entire 30 minutes. It seems like it would be a perfect way to kick off potty training. The host, Jessica, explains every step in the potty process in detail. There are many examples of happy boys and girls completing each step as it is described, and a song to shake things up a bit. At the end, there is a story of a princess deciding to use the potty.

The princess story and the fact that the host is female may make it more appealing to girls than to boys. Also, it could be redundant if a child has already started down the path to independent toileting.

Product Review - Circo Potty Chair

Circo Potty Chair

Rating: 0 stars

This chair was purchased at Target, but I didn't take a picture before I returned it and I can't find it online anywhere. This potty has a blue seat over a white body. The seat extends down into the bowl, and has to be lifted before sliding the bowl out to dump it.

The seat was much too small for my two-year-old, and absolutely impossible for my 4-month-old to use. The bowl sticks while sliding out, making it prone to splashing, and multiple crevices make it labor-intensive to clean.

Skip this potty and get a BabyBjörn instead.

Product Review - BabyBjörn Little Potty

BabyBjörn Little Potty
Rating: 5 stars

This potty is the best! It fits both my two-year-old and my four-month-old.

My two-year-old calls it her "bear potty" because of the bear picture on the front. She loves how light it is, she can pick it up and move it all by herself. It's easy to pull her dresses over the back so that they don't get in the bowl. She had no trouble adjusting to doing her business in this potty.

It's like a magic potty for my four-month-old. The very first time I put her on it, she peed. I'm not sure what it is about the potty, but it must trigger some pottying instinct. It seems to make pooping easier for her.

I love it because it's easy to clean. There are no moving parts, so no worries about "something" hiding in a crevice. It's smooth plastic all over. One little Clorox wipe will clean the whole thing in a matter of seconds. It's also small, so it doesn't take up much room in the bathroom. If I need to store it, maybe to save it for another child, it's stackable!

This potty can't be beat!

Product Review - Dora Toilet Insert

Dora Toilet Insert

Rating: 4 stars

My daughter is a Dora maniac, so this Dora toilet insert is very motivating for her. It does have the drawbacks that any insert has - the toilet is too high for a toddler, she can't get on and off herself, she has nothing to hold on to, and her feet are off the ground. The positives are that it fits nicely on the toilet, it's well-padded, and easy to store.

For a basic toilet insert, this is a fun one.
