HALLELUJAH!!! I am on Cloud 9!
For the first time, she told me she had to go, we rushed to the bathroom, and she went! It's working, it's really working!
I think it may have been sparked by an experience this morning. We met some friends in a park. The park had a couple of port-a-potties for its "facilities." One of the older girls in the group (turned four yesterday) had to go potty, so she just took off running. I saw her go, but was too far away from the others to tell her mom, so I grabbed Katie and we followed her. Audrey led us the long way to the port-a-potties, all around the ball field. She played hide and seek with Katie as we went, always staying just far enough ahead of us that I couldn't really get to her. Katie was delighted, and by the time we got to the potties Audrey was a favorite friend.
Audrey ran to one of the potties and climbed on the seat. Katie could see the whole thing, and then Audrey announced that she had pooped. Thankfully for everyone involved, her franticly worried mother arrived just then; I wasn't sure how I was going to help a four-year-old wipe when I was wearing a baby in a carrier and trying to make sure a two-year-old didn't run away.
When Katie woke up from her nap that afternoon, I had her sit on a potty in front of the TV and let her watch a Dora episode. Sure enough, after the episode there was pee in the potty. Then later, while we were eating dinner, she announced that she had to go. I RUSHED her to the potty. She sat for a few minutes, then started to get antsy, and got up like she had yesterday. I again tried to stall her. I could see her processing. She thought and thought, then sat down again and went.
AMAZING! This might actually happen!!! Of course, this could easily be just an exceptional day, but wouldn't it be fantastic if this was what she had been waiting for?
