Most of our time at home today was spent in the bathroom. She really seems to enjoy sitting on the potty, once I get her to sit down. Sometimes she'll fight tooth and nail not to go to the bathroom, but once I get her there I can't get her out again.
We had some interesting experiences today. It's happened a number of times now that we'll be sitting in the bathroom, and she'll suddenly say "Done!" Today I was wise enough to know that it meant she felt something coming out, so the first time I tried to stall her. I succeeded for a while, but then I had to get the baby so I had to give up. She pooped a few minutes later.
The next time was more interesting. I gave her two 8-oz glasses of juice so we would have more opportunity to practice. She sat on the potty for almost an hour. She didn't want to get off. She just wanted to keep reading more and more books - UNTIL she felt it coming! Again I tried to stall her. This time she got almost hysterical, screaming for "underwear" and actually got a pull-up out of the bag and tried to put it on herself (she's never done that before, even though I've asked her to try.) Again the baby started screaming too, so I let Katie put the pull-up on. The floodgates opened.
I took off the wet one, and she wanted to sit back down on the potty. The process repeated itself, except now I was holding the baby (who would scream if I put her down) and trying to cook dinner at the same time. My husband arrived right as Katie was getting hysterical. I was too harried at this time, so I just let him put a pull-up on her. Again, she filled it right away.
She OBVIOUSLY knows what's going on, and is able to hold her urine, if only for a short time. So that's encouraging. We just have to get past this fear. Looks like we'll have to do some more time outside, sans underwear.
